RN - Director of Nursing, DON (Assisted Living) Position Overview:

• The Director of Nursing (RN) assists with ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by being responsible for the overall staffing, staff training and development, and management of personnel in the Nursing Department. The Director of Nursing also is responsible for the overall quality of care assessment, planning, documentation and provision of services to residents.

Elderwood Assisted Living at Tonawanda is a single-level assisted living community with a family-like atmosphere in the Town of Tonawanda’s Sheridan-Parkside neighborhood. Staff are experienced in helping residents with daily activities and are available 24 hours a day to provide a safe, secure, and vibrant living experience with engaging activities. The community is licensed to provide additional services through the New York State-certified Assisted Living Program (ALP).

Responsibilities

RN - Director of Nursing (Assisted Living)

• Assist the Director of Nursing with staff management, training, scheduling, and personnel functions.
• Respond promptly to residents’ requests, demonstrating high customer service standards.
• Adapt flexibly to changing situations to meet current needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information and privacy.
• Treat residents, staff, and visitors with respect and kindness.
• Respect residents' rights and personal care preferences.
• Supervise nursing staff on all med rooms/units/floors during duty hours.
• Conduct rounds, contribute to resident care planning, and serve as a resource for nursing staff.
• Ensure safe conditions for residents and staff.
• Monitor and uphold high standards of resident care.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience as an LPN.
• At least one year of supervisory experience.
• Experience in nursing education, training, or in-service performance is preferred.
• Proficiency in computer applications and electronic medical records.
• Availability to participate in on-call programs, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English with residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors.
