Job summary

Corewell Health's Dearborn Hospital is seeking a part-time registered nurse to join our 7-bay hemodialysis inpatient unit. You will provide professional nursing care for acute renal failure and ESRD patients, following the nursing process and collaborating with the care team at bedside.

Responsibilities include patient-family centered care, accurate documentation, and teaching for patients and families. Candidates must be an RN with MI license and BLS, with a commitment to quality care.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 5 years.
• Minimum 2 years of related acute care experience for external candidates.
• MI RN license required.
• BLS certification required on hire.
• Specialty certification recommended within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care using the nursing process.
• Collaborate with patient-family input in planning plan of care.
• Document in the health record accurately and timely.
• Develop teaching strategies for patient and family and document education.
• Operate and apply equipment appropriately.

Treatments may be given within the hemodialysis unit as well as within the critical care and medical units at bedside. The group possesses many years of dialysis experience. Teamwork is the core of our foundation.

Scope of work

Nurses, under the ANA scope of practice, utilize the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. Nurses provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health's policies and procedures. Applies the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and discharge needs of patient/family/significant other. Partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care. Demonstrates knowledge of and competently performs technical procedures and uses equipment properly. Documents in the patient record in a timely, accurate and concise manner. Develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
• External candidates are required to have a minimum of 2 years of related acute care experience. External candidate must successfully complete a competency assessment provided by nursing education required
• Internal candidates with less than 2 years of clinical experience must be approved by their current nurse leader and the site Chief Nursing Officer. These candidates are to remain a unit-based PRN (casual) employee until they reach 2 years of nursing experience.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required upon hire
• Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
