Job summary

Cynet HealthStaff is seeking an RN for a 13-week Ped/PICU CVICU assignment in San Antonio, TX. Shift runs 07:00–19:00 (12 hours). Requires active RN license, minimum 1 year PICU/ICU experience, and PALS certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of PICU/ICU experience.
• Active RN License required.

Responsibilities

• Care for pediatric ICU patients in a 24-bed unit.
• Manage ventilators and drips; assist with chest tubes, lines, and sedation per protocol.
• Perform procedures such as central line placements, suctioning, and airway care.
• Collaborate with medical team; communicate effectively; weekend coverage every other weekend.

Description:This position involves working in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.The unit has 24 beds and a staff of 40.Staffing includes one charge nurse and 5-6 registered nurses on day shifts, depending on census, with similar staffing on night shifts.Patient ratios are 2:1, with 1:1 for higher acuity and 3:1 for lower acuity.Key equipment includes ventilators, drips, chest tubes, central lines, syringe pumps, trach care, and gastric tubes.The electronic medical record system used is Meditech.The unit admits all ICU-level care patients, encompassing various body systems.Candidates must possess experience with intubated patients and ventilator management.Preferred candidates will have ECMO experience and CRRT experience.Typical procedures performed on the unit include central line placements, chest tube placements, sedation, lumbar punctures, and intubations.The ideal candidate should be flexible to change, possess good communication skills with the medical team, and have a friendly, positive attitude.Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.A PICU manual will be provided on arrival, outlining the processes and guidelines for care in the unit.
