Description:This position involves working three 12-hour shifts.Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.An associate degree in nursing is required, with a bachelor's degree preferred.The role requires experience in the CVICU setting.Nurses will manage arterial lines and assist with chest tube insertion/removal.They will also provide BiPAP/CPAP management and blood product administration.Care for patients on ECMO and ventilated patients is essential.Central line care and management, as well as CVP monitoring, are important aspects of this role.Interpreting arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias is required.Nurses will be responsible for managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure.They must obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG readings and perform phlebotomy.Care for patients post-cardiac surgery from the OR, as well as pre/post cardiac catheterization/intervention, is included.Staff will care for patients who have undergone procedures related to the cardiothoracic area.Devices frequently seen in this unit include CRRT, ECMO, and IABP.Collaboration with interdisciplinary support services is a key part of this role.Nurses will adhere to isolation precautions and infection prevention protocols as necessary.Successful candidates will have experience with ECMO protocols and various cardiac procedures.
