Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the ICU Stepdown team for 24 hours per week, with day or night shifts.

This intermediate-acuity role focuses on transitioning patients from critical care to Med/Surg, using evidence-based care and teamwork. You will collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, perform accurate hand-offs, administer medications, and participate in quality initiatives to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BSN preferred.
• Current Missouri RN license or compact license.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg level.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions, and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
