Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an experienced nurse with specialty/ambulatory care expertise to coordinate medication access, prior authorizations, denials and appeals, and specialty-pharmacy coordination. You will work closely with providers, payers, and pharmacies to keep treatment moving.

The role emphasizes familiarity with EB medication workflows (EPIC/CoverMyMeds), patient assistance programs, and providing patient-centered nursing support within Mercy's clinics.

Qualifications

• Specialty or gastroenterology nursing experience is required.
• Hands-on experience with biologic/high-cost medications and prior authorizations.
• Knowledge of denials, appeals, peer-to-peers, formulary and step-therapy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the progress note with provider-built EPIC tools across history, exam, assessment and plan.
• Review health maintenance and immunizations; ensure up-to-date records.
• Manage medication requests/changes/refills per protocol; assist with diagnostics as directed.
