Job summary

Mercy Physician Services, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks a Medical Assistant/Scribe to support physicians by documenting encounters in EPIC, managing specimens, and assisting with exams.

The role requires MA certification, BLS, and clinic experience; you will perform venipuncture, EKGs, and patient education with emphasis on accuracy and patient-centered care.

This position offers a sign-on bonus up to $5,000 in a community hospital setting with equal opportunity employment.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant with BLS required.
• Experience with EPIC documentation and scribing is preferred.
• Basic pharmacology knowledge and safe medication administration practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepares instruments, supplies and protective devices for exam and testing prior to the visit.
• Rooms and prepares the patient for examination.
• Reviews histories, allergies, medications, reason for visit and records vitals.
• Orders/administrates injections, collects specimens for lab testing, and performs phlebotomy as needed.
• Provides test results as directed by the Provider.
• Documents encounter in EPIC and supports provider-built documentation tools.
• Provides patient education and discharge instructions.
• Manages medication requests/changes/refills per established protocols.
