Job summary

Tidewell Hospice in Florida is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver compassionate, evidence-based hospice care under a physician's direction. You will assess patients, relieve symptoms, and support families as part of a multidisciplinary team in Manatee and North Sarasota counties.

Responsibilities include ongoing care planning, education for families, and referrals to services, with a Monday–Friday 8a–5p schedule and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of approved nursing program and current unrestricted Florida RN license.
• Valid and current CPR certification required.
• Minimum one year experience in an acute-care hospital providing direct patient care; Hospice RN preferred.
• CHPN certification strongly encouraged within three years of employment.
• BSN or MSN preferred.

• Promotes and practices the Hospice mission and core values.
• Under physician direction, manages discomfort and provides symptom relief using palliative nursing skills.
• Assesses patient needs across physical, functional, psychosocial and environmental domains.
• Develops and updates the individualized plan of care with the IDG and initiates referrals as needed.
• Educates patient, family and caregivers about disease, care, and safety practices.

Job description

Since 1980, Tidewell Hospice has proudly served families across southwest Florida with compassionate, dignified care. As a member of Empath Health, we help patients with advanced illness live meaningfully while supporting their families with warmth, expertise, and respect. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8a-5p. Area of coverage Manatee County and North Sarasota County.

What You'll do:

Promotes and practices the Hospice mission and core values, and follows all policies and procedures of Tidewell Hospice. Under the direction of a licensed physician, manages discomfort and provides symptom relief using specialized nursing skills related to palliative and end-of-life care. Provides initial and ongoing assessment of the impact of the terminal diagnosis on the patient’s physical, functional, psychosocial, and environmental needs and activities of daily living. In collaboration with the other members of the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG); develops implements and updates the individualized plan of care, initiates appropriate preventive and rehabilitative procedures and initiates referrals to other services; requests complimentary services, as needed. Educates patient/resident, family and caregivers regarding disease process and decline, palliative interventions care giving, dying process and safety practices. Daily adherence to the customer service acknowledgement processes for facility staff.

What You'll Need

Graduate of approved nursing program and current unrestricted Florida RN license. Valid and current CPR certification required. Minimum one year experience in an acute-care Hospital environment providing direct patient care; previous experience as a Hospice RN preferred. CHPN certification is strongly encouraged within three years of employment. BSN or MSN preferred. An equivalent combination of professional experience and education may be considered as meeting the educational/professional requirements.
