Responsibilities

• Coordinate medical care on claims involving medical treatment with providers and injured workers.
• Develop medical management strategy to facilitate return-to-work plans.
• Evaluate treatment and return-to-work plans against protocols.
• Suggest cost-effective treatment options and advocate for aggressive treatment plans as appropriate.
• Authorize medical treatment and tests on assigned claims as permitted by law.
• Obtain medical records telephonically and follow up in writing.
• Discuss medical information with adjusters and integrate into overall strategy.
• Collaborate with employers, injured parties, providers and adjusters to expedite return to work.
• Document all contacts and outcomes in the system and submit billing reports.

Are you tired of working long hospital shifts? If you are looking for an in-office, 5-day work week telephonic position with no weekend hours, we want you.

We emphasize early intervention, return-to-work planning, and coordination of quality medical care on claims involving worker injuries. The RN Case Manager is responsible for helping to ensure that injured workers receive appropriate treatment related to the compensable injury or assisting claim staff in managing medical treatment to an appropriate resolution.

Primary Duties:

• Working as part of a claim team, contact medical providers and injured parties on claims involving medical treatment to coordinate appropriate medical care.
• Develop medical management strategy and give the provider information necessary to facilitate return to work plan on claims requiring disability management.
• Responsible for ongoing evaluation of treatment and return to work plan within established protocols.
• Work with medical providers and suggest cost-effective treatment options when appropriate. Help ensure that injured parties are on an aggressive treatment plan.
• Authorize medical treatment and associated diagnostic testing on assigned claims as permitted by law.
• Obtain medical records from providers telephonically, follow up in writing if needed.
• Discuss medical information with adjuster and integrate into overall strategy.
• Provide technical assistance and act as resource for claims adjusters.
• Work with employer, injured party, provider and adjuster to expedite return to work.
• Document all contacts and outcomes related to case activity in system.
• Submit billing reports on all activities per established guidelines.

Registered Nurse Public Health, School Nursing, Urgent Care, ER or Orthopedic experience is preferred - work comp training provided.
