Job summary

Mercy South CVPCU is seeking a dedicated RN to provide high‑quality cardiovascular and thoracic patient care. You will collaborate with surgeons, cardiologists, and the heart clinic to ensure safe patient transitions home, while maintaining patient rights and confidentiality.

The role features a full-time schedule (36 hours/week) with days and nights available, on-site at Mercy South in St. Louis, MO. Structured orientation and ongoing mentorship support your growth in a fast-paced unit.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an RN license
• Current Missouri (or compact) RN licensure
• Hospital nursing experience preferred per unit requirements
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care for cardiovascular and thoracic patients on CVPCU
• Coordinate care with surgeons, cardiologists, and heart clinic
• Ensure patient rights and confidentiality
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and handoffs

Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU)

About the CVPCU

CVPCU specializes in caring for complex cardiovascular and thoracic patients, including:

• Post‑operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients

• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)

• Atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias

• STEMI and myocardial infarctions

• Pulmonary issues

• Kidney failure

• Overdoses and medical step‑down patients

You’ll work closely with surgeons, cardiologists, and the heart clinic to ensure patients transition safely and confidently back home

Qualifications

Education:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing

• Nursing Diploma

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure:Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience:Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications:

• Required:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education:BSN preferred

• Licensure:Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred

• Experience:Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly

• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift

• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
