Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO. This full-time role offers a 36-hour week with day and night shifts in a fast-paced cardiovascular setting.

You’ll provide high-quality patient care, coordinate with surgeons, cardiologists, and clinics, and support patients and families as they transition home. Mercy supports career growth and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an RN license in Missouri or compact licensure.
• Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required or to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Shift: Days and Nights Available

About the CVPCU

CVPCU specializes in caring for complex cardiovascular and thoracic patients, including:

• Post‑operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias
• STEMI and myocardial infarctions
• Pulmonary issues
• Kidney failure
• Overdoses and medical step‑down patients

You’ll work closely with surgeons, cardiologists, and the heart clinic to ensure patients transition safely and confidently back home

Qualifications

Education:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure:Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience:Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications:

• Required:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education:BSN preferred
• Licensure:Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Experience:Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
