Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, Missouri is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Cardiac Stepdown on the Weekend Option. The role supports patient care using the nursing process and coordinates with other departments.

The position offers full-time weekend shifts Fri–Sun 36 hours, with a differential of $20 per hour on eligible hours. Requirements include an accredited nursing program graduate (ADN, diploma, or BSN) and Missouri RN licensure; BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: ADN, Nursing Diploma or BSN.
• Licensure: Missouri RN license in good standing or compact license.
• Experience: Previous hospital experience preferred depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care using the nursing process and ensure patient rights and confidentiality.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments and maintain accountability.
• Evaluate and contribute to the overall effectiveness of care provided by direct care givers.
• Perform duties consistent with Mercy mission, values and service standards.

Position Details

Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Stepdown | Weekend Option

Location: Mercy Hospital South - 10010 Kennerly Rd, St. Louis, Missouri 63128

Schedule: Weekend Option (Fri, Sat & Sun) | Full-Time | Days | 36 hours/week

Weekend Option Differential: Earn an additional $20/hour for all hours worked between Friday 7:00 AM and Monday 7:00 AM.

• Experienced Nurses: Up to $10,000
• New Graduate Nurses (less than 1 year of experience): Up to $5,000

Overview

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and mercy service standards.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: BSN preferred
• Licensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Experience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
