Corewell Health Butterworth - Grand Rapids is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Progressive Care Unit Cardiac Vascular 6 MHC Butterworth team. The role involves delivering professional nursing care in a 46-bed cardiac/vascular setting with a focus on patient-centered care during complex interventions.

This full-time night-shift position runs 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, requires working 48 of 52 weekends per year, and offers a $10 per hour weekend stipend in addition to base pay, plus

Responsibilities

• The RN provides professional nursing care under the ANA scope of practice and in accordance with Corewell Health policies and procedures.
• The RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and discharges patient care, and collaborates with patient/family goals in planning the care plan.
• The RN partners with patient/family input and develops teaching strategies, documenting education in the health record.

Job description

Eligibility

RNs in inpatient nursing settings with 24/7 scheduling are included.

0.9 FTE would work two 12-hour shifts on the weekend.

Compensation

RNs will receive an additional $10 per hour plus their base pay.

If the RN is a full-time (3)12s a week RN, the stipend will apply to the two shifts on the weekend and not on the third weekday shift. This $10 per hour will be combined with shift differentials as well as other special codes.

Scheduling

RNs will be required to work 48 out of 52 weekends per calendar year. Weekends are defined as Friday and Saturday night for night shift. RNs can request up to 48 hours of PTO on their weekend shifts as well as 48 hours of exchanging a weekend shift for a weekday shift, for a total of 96 hours 'off' of the weekend requirement. This would be given in accordance with unit guidelines with allotted PTO as well as peak times, etc. RNs may request 1 holiday off per calendar year that falls on the weekend. The RN would only work the holiday if it fell on the weekend, they will not be moved off a weekend to work on a holiday.

About the unit

6 Meijer Heart Center (6 Heart) is a 46-bed cardiac and vascular progressive/stepdown unit at the Meijer Heart Cente r. The primary patient population served include patients with various cardiac and vascular diseases requiring medical, procedural, or surgical interventions. This includes acute coronary syndrome, acute myocardial infarction, post-percutaneous coronary intervention, peripheral artery disease, renal artery disease, aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease and heart rhythm disorders.

6 Heart nurses are skilled in peritoneal dialysis, utilization of Endotool for continuous insulin drip management, and hemodynamic monitoring with arterial lines. 6 Heart is a great unit to grow and develop as a nurse. Our team members gain knowledge and confidence caring for our cardiac and vascular patients. The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.
