Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL seeks an RN Manager Behavioral Health to lead clinical and operational aspects of the Behavioral Health department at UAB St. Vincent’s East.

Responsibilities include supervising nursing, therapists, counselors, and mental health staff, ensuring safety, quality care and adherence to regulations. The role involves direct patient care in crisis or high-risk settings and focuses on a safe, effective environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date or transfer date.
• RN license by Alabama Board of Nursing is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of behavioral health professionals.
• Develop and implement behavioral health programs aligned with organizational goals.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting patient care delivery in the unit.
• Develop and maintain policies to ensure efficient health service delivery.
• Maintain quality monitoring systems for the unit.
• Manage department budgets, schedules, and expenditures within guidelines.
• Foster high satisfaction among associates, patients, and physicians.
• Recruit, train, direct, counsel, develop, and evaluate staff.
