Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham seeks a dedicated registered nurse for Behavioral Health - Geri Psychiatry. This full-time night shift position (7:00 pm–7:00 am) works at UAB St. Vincent's East, delivering direct patient care within a team-focused, adult/geriatric psychiatric setting.

Responsibilities include bio-psychosocial assessments, planning and implementing nursing care, participating in treatment team conferences, and co-leading group sessions while adapting care to changing patient needs.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days of hire (AHA or ARC accepted).
• Alabama RN license required prior to hire date.
• Diploma in Nursing from an accredited school.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to behavioral health patients per facility policies.
• Perform initial and ongoing bio-psychosocial assessments and develop a nursing care plan.
• Participate in treatment team conferences to plan goals, objectives and interventions.
• Implement nursing plan of care and co-lead group therapy sessions; revise plans as patient status changes.

Our Behavioral Health services at UAB St. Vincent’s East include 80 beds for adult and geriatric patients with acute and chronic mental health needs. Job Description

Provide direct patient care to behavioral health patients in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the facility.

• Perform initial and on-going bio-psychosocial assessments according to accepted standards of nursing practice. Develop a nursing plan of care consistent with the master treatment plan.
• Participate in treatment team conferences to assist in planning and revising goals, objectives and interventions appropriate to the age-related and problem-specific needs of each patient.
• Implement nursing plan of care for assigned patients and conducts and/or co-leads group therapy sessions for patients.
• Evaluate patient's response to interventions and revise nursing plan of care as needed. Collaborate with the treatment team to revise goals, objectives and interventions appropriate to the changes in patient status.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.
