Job summary

ARMStaffing is seeking a Registered Nurse, Pediatric Behavioral Health for a 13-week contract in Cincinnati, Ohio. Work in a locked pediatric psychiatric unit serving ages 4-18; Day shift with alternating weekends/holidays.

You will lead therapeutic groups, perform assessments, coordinate care, document in EMR, and educate patients' families. Active OH/compact RN license, BLS, and TCI training are required; pediatric psychiatric experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Ohio or Compact.
• Minimum 1 year in psychiatric care; 2 years in the specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate therapeutic groups and safety checks.
• Assist patients with ADLs such as meals, bathing, and toileting.
• Engage in recreational play and therapeutic games with patients.
• Provide 1:1 sitter supervision for high-risk or acute patients.
• Regularly document shifts in EMR.
• Administer medications as prescribed.
• Attend rounds and share information with the healthcare team.
• Provide patient and family education.
• Perform nursing interventions for chronic and acute mental health diagnoses.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will work in a locked and secured pediatric psychiatric unit providing care to hospitalized children and adolescents ages 4-18. The population includes patients with diagnoses such as ADHD, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and depression. The nurse will be responsible for the facilitation of therapeutic groups, patient assessments, and engaging in recreational activities with patients while ensuring a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate therapeutic groups and complete safety checks.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as meal supervision, bathing, and toileting.
• Engage in recreational play and therapeutic games with patients.
• Provide 1:1 sitter supervision for high-risk or acute patients.
• Regularly document shifts in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Administer medications as prescribed.
• Attend rounds and represent information to share with the healthcare team.
• Provide patient and family education.
• Perform nursing interventions for chronic and acute mental health diagnoses.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a psychiatric setting, with at least 2 years of experience in the specialty.
• Pediatric experience is required.
• Experience with bipolar, anxiety, eating, psychotic, and depressive disorders is preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• Active Ohio or compact RN license is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Successful completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training, provided within the first month of the contract.
