Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

Facility: Cobb Hospital

The RN Clinical Nurse is expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies, and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions

  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care, coordinating through effective partnerships.
  • Provides relationship-based patient-centered care that reflects an understanding of cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and significant others, utilizing methods like bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching, and updates, focusing on patient goals.
  • Practices using current clinical standards.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration
    • Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality care, promoting respectful and inclusive communication.
    • Demonstrates teamwork by practicing responsibly and promoting staff recruitment and retention.
    • Supports performance improvement, research, and shared governance activities.
  • Professional Development and Initiative
    • Completes all competency assessments and mandatory education.
    • Serves as a preceptor/mentor to ensure a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
  • Evidence-Based Practice and Research
    • Promotes evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement.
    • Participates in data collection, formulates clinical questions, and consults resources to address practice questions.
  • Resources and Support
    • Plans proactively for patient care across the continuum.
    • Develops protocols collaboratively to improve outcomes and supports resource efficiency.

    Minimum Education

    Associate's Degree in nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing school required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

    Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

    • Registered Nurse (Single State) upon hire required.
    • RN - Multi-state Compact upon hire required.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) required; BLS Instructor and Provisional BLS also required.

    Minimum Experience

    Less than 1 year of clinical hours post-graduation required. Direct patient care experience preferred.
