Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids seeks an RN for the 5 West observation unit, a 25-bed fast-paced unit supporting the Emergency Department. You will provide bedside nursing care for a diverse patient population, including chest pain, heart failure, GI issues, orthopedic and neuro conditions, with telemetry and IVs.

5 West is a smaller unit comprised of 25 beds at Butterworth Hospital supporting our Emergency Department. 5W is a fast paced unit caring for a wide range of patient population. This brings a lot of variety to the patients you will care for and provides the ability to strengthen your critical thinking skills and be part of a dynamic team providing excellent patient care to those needing further testing and observation of symptoms. Types of patients with: Chest Pain, Heart Failure, Kidney Stones, Psychiatric Diagnosis, GI, Orthopedic, and Neuro for both Acute and Chronic Illness Patients. Telemetry, IVs, NG/G-tubes, Chest Tubes, Dressing/Wound Care, CT & MRI Patients. 5W Physicians and Advance Practice Providers remain on the unit so there is 24 hour accessibility which improves relationships, care team collaboration, and efficiency of patient care.

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
