Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Med/Surg service line in Missouri. The role emphasizes utilizing the nursing process to deliver patient care, evaluating care effectiveness, and coordinating with other departments while upholding patient rights and confidentiality.

A strong foundation in clinical judgment and teamwork will support success on this 24-private bed unit. Qualifications include an accredited nursing degree, MO or compact RN licensure, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree from an accredited school is required.
• RN license in MO or compact licensure and must meet state board requirements.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care.
• Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for assigned patients.
• Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers.

The Mercy Joplin MedSurg Service Line is made up of several specialty units that will provide experience with patient populations with a varying range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. Whether you are a new grad nurse looking to build a strong base before launching into your future career/educational plans or an experienced nurse who enjoys variety in their everyday work, Med Surg is the place for you!

Our Ortho-Neuro Unit is a 24-private bed unit that cares for orthopedic (both surgical and non-surgical), stroke and a wide variety of neurological conditions. Our Nurses work on a support team of educators, PCA/PCT's, Case Managers, Respiratory Therapists, Dieticians, PT/OT and Speech Therapists. You will have the opportunity to receive your NIH Stroke Certification.

**Great stepping stone into our ICU and ED units**

Qualifications:

• Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school
• License: Current RN license in our state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
• Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
