Job summary

Mercy is seeking an RN for Med Surg in Missouri. This role uses the nursing process to provide patient care and coordinates with multiple departments to ensure quality outcomes. You will evaluate care effectiveness and uphold patient rights and confidentiality in a collaborative team environment.

Day and night shifts are available. This position serves as a strong stepping stone into ICU and ED units, with opportunities for growth, education, and professional development within Mercy's service

Qualifications

• Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school.
• Current RN license in our state and/or compact licensure meeting state board requirements.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care.
• Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for assigned patients.
• Evaluates overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers.
• Coordinates patient care with other departments while maintaining patient rights and confidentiality.

The Mercy Joplin MedSurg Service Line is made up of several specialty units that will provide experience with patient populations with a varying range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. Whether you are a new grad nurse looking to build a strong base before launching into your future career/educational plans or an experienced nurse who enjoys variety in their everyday work, Med Surg is the place for you!

Our Renal/Oncology Unit is a 21-private bed unit that offers a diverse mix of general medical, renal and oncology patients. Our Nurses work on a support team of educators, PCA/PCT's, Case Managers, Respiratory Therapists, Dieticians, PT/OT and Speech Therapists. You will have the opportunity to receive certification in both peritoneal dialysis and chemotherapy.

Qualifications:

• Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school

• License: Current RN license in our state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements

• Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
