The role involves applying the nursing process to plan, direct, and provide patient care on the nursing unit, with emphasis on discharge planning and family education.

ACLS/charge nurse duties may be required. Applicants must hold RN licensure in the state or compact state, with current BLS and ACLS (ACLS within 90 days).

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state where the hospital resides.
• Current BLS certification is required.
• Evidence of ACLS certification is required within 90 days of employment.
• BLS and ACLS certifications must be AHA approved within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver, direct and supervise patient care using the nursing process.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary planning, discharge planning, and patient/family teaching.
• Assess community resources and assist with post-hospitalization planning.
• May perform Charge Nurse duties with ACLS certification.
