Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse to provide high-quality, patient-centered care on the 5 South unit, a fast-paced medical-surgical team caring for adults with urology, nephrology, trauma, and colorectal surgery. The unit partners with Virtual Nurse colleagues to deliver collaborative care.

As an RN you will deliver individualized nursing care using Mercy policies and the Nurse Practice Act, working rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Current or compact Iowa RN licensure.
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• Mandatory Reporter training completed within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for acutely ill adults on admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Deliver nursing care independently per Nurse Practice Act and Mercy policies.
• Guide and direct Patient Care Technicians in patient care tasks.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment setup and safety to maximize patient safety.
