Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Data Engineer Co‑op on the Emerging Technology team in Rochester, NY. The role is hybrid, Monday–Friday, full‑time, starting January 2027 as an RIT co‑op student.

You will build data pipelines, prepare data for analytics and AI, and develop dashboards (Power BI) to track AI adoption while automating tasks with GitHub Actions. You’ll work with Cloud platforms and collaborate with IT Applications data engineers.

• RIT student co‑op eligible.

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Automation and scripting experience.
• Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools (Power BI, Looker or Tableau).
• Experience with Snowflake, Docker and GitHub Actions is a plus.
• You enjoy solving difficult problems and learn independently.
• You can explain your work clearly to non‑technical partners.

SUMMARY

As an RIT Co-op student working on the Emerging Technology Team, you will help Rochester Regional Health build a Modern Data Platform so that teams and AI tools can safely use trusted data. As a Data Engineer co-op, you will help build and improve the pipelines, reports and data quality checks behind it, in additional to working with real health system data and see your work used by teams across RRH.

STATUS: RIT Co-op - must be enrolled as a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology

LOCATION: Hybrid

DEPARTMENT: Emerging Technology

SCHEDULE: M-F, Full-time. Days. This is a double-block co-op starting in January 2027.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and maintain data pipelines using Python, SQL and cloud tools
• Help prepare and validate data for analytics and AI use cases
• Build dashboards and reports (for example in Power BI) on AI adoption and usage
• Automate repetitive data tasks with scripts and GitHub Actions
• Document how pipelines work so others can run and extend them
• Work with the Emerging Technology team and IT Applications data engineers, and explain your work clearly to non-technical partners

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67-100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. Some roles may require flexible hours, TB screening, or a valid driver's license.

The posted pay range is a good faith representation of potential base pay for this position. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
