The Risk, Patient Safety & Quality Improvement Coordinator leads key initiatives that improve patient outcomes, enhance safety, reduce organizational risk, and support regulatory compliance. This influential role serves as a subject matter expert in patient safety, risk management, and medical staff quality, collaborating with physicians, clinical teams, and leadership to drive continuous improvement across the organization. Responsibilities include overseeing patient safety programs, conducting risk assessments and root cause analyses, managing quality data and event reporting, supporting peer review activities, and promoting best practices that strengthen the quality of care delivered to our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and maintain the organization's Risk Management Program, including annual planning and goal development.
  • Manage event reporting processes, risk assessments, and risk mitigation initiatives across the organization.
  • Collaborate with the professional liability carrier and legal counsel to manage claims and reduce organizational risk.
  • Support patient grievance review processes to ensure concerns are addressed appropriately and in accordance with risk management best practices.
  • Assist with organizational reporting related to patient safety, risk management, and quality outcomes.
  • Lead and oversee the Patient Safety Program, including annual planning, evaluation, and goal setting.
  • Facilitate patient safety initiatives that support a culture of safety, high reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analyses, failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA), and investigations related to patient safety events.
  • Coordinate patient safety reporting and ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Chair and support patient safety committees, action planning, and follow-up activities.

Quality Improvement & Medical Staff Quality

  • Manage internal and external peer review activities for Medical Staff practitioners, including performance trending and improvement initiatives.
  • Support Medical Staff Quality and Quality Committee activities, including meeting coordination, reporting, and documentation.
  • Monitor and analyze quality metrics, practitioner performance data, and quality-of-care concerns.
  • Partner with clinical and medical staff leaders to identify opportunities for improvement and enhance care quality outcomes.
  • Support regulatory and accreditation requirements related to quality and medical staff performance.

Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Analyze, track, and trend patient safety, risk management, and quality data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for leadership, committees, and regulatory bodies.
  • Utilize data to support performance improvement initiatives and organizational decision-making.

Education, Compliance & Organizational Support

  • Provide education and training related to patient safety, risk management, HIPAA, compliance, and quality improvement.
  • Support ongoing regulatory readiness, accreditation activities, and organizational compliance efforts.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance organizational quality, safety, and performance goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Organizational Performance Department and Medical Staff leadership.

Working Hours:

This is a full time Monday-Friday role
