Job summary

Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, NH, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Same Day Surgery unit on a part-time schedule (24 hours per week). The Day Surgery Staff Nurse delivers preoperative and post-operative care for ambulatory procedures and supports inpatients undergoing procedures, following established perianesthesia standards.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Nursing required or higher.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • Exceptional new graduate nurses encouraged to apply.
  • Pre- and post-operative care experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for ambulatory patients.
  • Assist inpatients undergoing procedures and ensure safety and comfort.
  • Follow perianesthesia nursing standards to ensure quality care.

Position Summary:

The Day Surgery Staff Nurse provides pre-operative and post-operative care for patients of all ages, undergoing a variety of ambulatory procedures including endoscopy, minor surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic outpatient procedures and treatments. Care is also provided to inpatients requiring major or endoscopic procedures and to patients entering the hospital as a same day admission. The staff nurse utilizes AORN Ambulatory Surgery Standards and Recommended Practices and ASPAN “Standards of Perianesthesia Nursing Practice” as references to ensure quality, safety and appropriateness of care for the patient.

Qualifications
Education
Required

Associates or better in Nursing.

Preferred

Bachelors or better in Nursing.

Experience
Required

Exceptional new graduate nurses are highly encouraged to apply.

Demonstrates knowledge of normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms. Initiates and maintains intravenous therapy.

Requires clinical, organizational, communication, and team building skills.

Preferred

Critical care nursing, knowledge of administration of conscious sedation and/or strong medical-surgical clinical background is desired.

Two years in area of specialty highly preferred, but will train the right candidate.
