Job summary

Medlinkhealth Anesthesia Associates is seeking a Risk Management professional to develop and review the annual Risk Management Plan and coordinate with the liability carrier to minimize exposure. The role conducts risk assessments, trains staff, and oversees the Event Reporting System to improve patient safety and quality reporting.

The candidate will work with the Patient Experience Coordinator and QA teams to address grievances and contribute to organizational compliance and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in healthcare patient safety and/or risk management in an acute care hospital or multi-specialty physician practice is required.
• Licensure: NH RN License or strong clinical knowledge/experience is highly preferred.
• Certification in risk management is preferred (e.g., CPHRM or CPHQ).

Responsibilities

• Develops and reviews, evaluates yearly Risk Management Plan and annual goals.
• Reports actual and potential claims to professional liability insurance carrier and works to minimize exposure.
• Arranges and provides risk mitigation training; participates in organization-wide risk assessments.
• Manages claims with liability carrier and defense counsel toward fair, cost-effective resolution.
• Monitors Event Reporting System and trains users on it.
• Oversees handling of patient grievances within liability and mismanagement contexts.
• Collaborates with QA and data teams on patient safety and risk reporting.
• Supports Quality and Safety committees with reporting to leadership.

Job description

Job Responsibilities:

• Develops and reviews, evaluates yearly Risk Management Plan and annual goals.
• Reports actual and potential claims to professional liability insurance carrier. Works closely with that carrier to minimize legal exposure.
• Arranges and provides training on risk mitigation; participates in and performs risk assessments organization wide. Follows up on recommendations from the carrier performed risk assessments.
• Works with liability carrier and defense counsel in the management of claims and suits to a fair and cost-effective resolution for all parties.
• Manages and monitors the Event Reporting System and provides training and support for all users of the system.
• Works with the Patient Experience Coordinator to oversee the handling of patient grievances and concerns within the context of organizational liability and medical mismanagement.
• Works with the Clinical Quality Analyst QI Specialist in data abstraction and submission of data for patient safety, risk management and quality reporting.
• Supports Organizational Performance department in reporting to the Quality and Safety Operations Committee, the Corporate Compliance Committee, and the Quality Council.
