Job summary

Sentara Health in Virginia Beach is seeking a Risk Manager to lead the facility's risk management program, coordinate insurance coverage and risk financing, and oversee claims alongside adjusters and defense counsel. You will develop loss control strategies, analyze risk data, and educate staff to prevent medical errors and minimize losses.

Travel is required across Hampton Roads; requires a Bachelor's degree with an advanced degree preferred and ARM/CSP/CPCU certifications within three years.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Masters preferred in Business or Health field.
  • ARM/CSP/CPCU certification required within 3 years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate insurance coverage and risk financing for the facility.
  • Manage claims and interface with claims adjusters and defense counsel.
  • Oversee loss control programs and day-to-day risk management activities.

  • Conduct incident investigations and ensure proper response to claims.
  • Ensure compliance with risk management laws and regulations.
  • Participate in committees assessing patient care and safety.

City/StateVirginia Beach, VAWork ShiftFirst (Days)Overview:Risk ManagerResponsible for the facility/division's risk management activities, which include coordinating insurance coverage and risk financing, managing claims against the division/facility, interfacing with claims adjusters and defense legal counsel.Also responsible for coordinating and maintaining a loss control program, administering the risk management program on a day-to-day basis, managing and analyzing risk management data, and conducting risk management educational programs. Coordinates with division leaders and collaborates with clinical teams to develop strategies to prevent medical error and reduce loss. Engages team members to evaluate incidents and conduct investigation provide for appropriate response to claims. Ensures compliance with risk management related laws and regulation to control and minimize losses.Identifies trends and reviews System reports; conducts loss control audits; and conducts reviews to evaluate patient care quality and to identify possible risk exposures.
