Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a Part-Time Patient Access Representative to handle patient registration, verify identity, select correct records, review schedules and orders, scan insurance cards and IDs, and enter demographic and insurance data into the EHR.

You will explain and collect regulatory documents, collect co-pays and balances, greet patients, answer questions, and, when needed, perform scheduling, pre-admission, and discharge tasks while

Qualifications

• HS - High School Grad or Equivalent
• No specific certification or licensure requirements
• 2 years of Customer Service and/or Data Entry experience
• Associate or bachelor’s degree can substitute for two years of experience
• Proficiency in Keyboarding

Responsibilities

• Register patients by verifying identity and selecting correct records
• Review schedules and physician orders to register the patient for the appropriate service
• Scan documents (insurance cards, IDs, Living Wills, POAs) and verify demographics in EHR
• Explain and collect regulatory and compliance documents per privacy standards
• Explain and collect co-pays, deposits, and outstanding balances
• Greet patients and provide first contact and information
• Assist with scheduling, pre-admission, and discharge duties as needed

City/StateVirginia Beach, VAWork ShiftFirst (Days)Overview:Part Time, Days 8:30am-5:00pmAs a Patient Access Representative with Sentara, you will be responsible for all aspects of the patient registration process, including: verifying the patient identity and selecting the correct patient record, reviewing schedules and physician orders to register the patient for the appropriate service, scanning important documents such as insurance cards, ID's, Living Wills, and POAs and verifying and entering the patient's demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record. During the registration process, the Patient Access Rep will explain and complete complex regulatory and compliance documents and adhere to all applicable privacy and compliance standards. They also explain and collect co-payments, deposits, and outstanding balances and perform the transactions securely. In most areas, the Patient Access Rep is the first point of contact for patients and provides the first impression of Sentara. They greet patients and families, answer questions, and ensure the patients arrive to the appropriate service area at the right time.
