University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites applications for the Risk Management Specialist to lead risk identification, communication, measurement, and management across university operations and stakeholders.

You will design programs unique to UNL, review contracts and certifications, and coordinate with General Counsel on claims. Strong communication, decision-making, and knowledge of risk management are required for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or equivalent education/experience in Finance, Business, risk management, insurance, legal, or related field.
• Three years of related experience in employment benefits administration, human resources administration, risk management administration or equivalent experiences.
• Detailed understanding or a working knowledge of the day-to-day administration of a comprehensive benefits program or risk management is essential.
• Must have strong decision-making skills and the ability to work with a diverse external and internal client base.
• Knowledge of risk management principles and concepts.
• Applicants should have excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirement.

Responsibilities

• Lead identification, communication, measurement and management of potential risks that may impact UNL's operations, reputation, and stakeholders.
• Design and implement programs unique to UNL in areas of Risk Management.
• Investigate, negotiate and settle claims in conjunction with General Counsel.
• Review and approve on- and off-campus student events for waivers and insurance.
• Review workers compensation claims and unemployment program with personnel.
• Review contracts and certificates of insurance from vendors doing business with UNL.
