Job summary

Megawatt Construction, Inc. is seeking a Risk & Insurance Compliance Specialist to support the Risk Management function by administering insurance requirements across construction projects, owner contracts, subcontractors, vendors, and other participants.

The role reviews COIs and policies, tracks coverage and expiration dates, ensures compliance before work begins, and collaborates with Contracts/Legal, Procurement and Project Management to resolve gaps throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Experience reviewing COIs and endorsements.
  • Familiarity with OCIP/CCIP programs.

Responsibilities

  • Review COIs for required coverage, limits and policy periods.
  • Verify endorsements, including Additional Insured, Waiver of Subrogation and Primary & Non-Contributory coverage.
  • Monitor certificates and policies for upcoming expirations and obtain renewals before coverage lapses.
  • Identify coverage gaps, deficiencies and exceptions and coordinate with subcontractors, brokers and internal teams to resolve them.
  • Track and maintain approved insurance exceptions, waivers and corrective actions.
  • Review Owner insurance requirements against the Company’s insurance program and elevate requirements that exceed existing coverage.
  • Coordinate with the insurance broker on coverage confirmations, endorsements and renewals.
  • Support OCIP/CCIP, Builders Risk and other project-specific insurance programs, as applicable.
  • Maintain accurate insurance records and compliance reports for active projects.
  • Partner with Contracts, Legal, Procurement and Project Management to ensure insurance compliance before contracts and start of work.

Job description

The Risk & Insurance Compliance Specialist will support the Risk Management function in administering and monitoring insurance requirements across the Company's construction projects, owner contracts, subcontractors, vendors, consultants and other project participants.

The role will be responsible for reviewing and tracking Certificates of Insurance ("COIs"), insurance policies and endorsements; monitoring coverage limits and expiration dates; confirming compliance with contractual and project-specific insurance requirements; identifying gaps and exceptions; and coordinating with project teams, Contracts/Legal, subcontractors, brokers and insurance carriers to resolve deficiencies.

The position will serve as a key control point to ensure that required insurance coverage is in place before work begins and remains compliant throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review Owner, subcontract, vendor and project insurance requirements and maintain an insurance requirements matrix.
  • Review Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for required coverage, limits, policy periods and insured entities.
  • Verify required endorsements, including Additional Insured, Waiver of Subrogation and Primary & Non-Contributory coverage.
  • Monitor insurance certificates and policies for upcoming expirations and obtain renewals before coverage lapses.
  • Compare subcontractor/vendor coverage against contractual requirements and Company insurance standards.
  • Identify coverage gaps, deficiencies and exceptions and coordinate with subcontractors, brokers and internal teams to resolve them.
  • Track and maintain approved insurance exceptions, waivers and corrective actions.
  • Review Owner insurance requirements against the Company's insurance program and elevate requirements that exceed existing coverage or limits.
  • Coordinate with the insurance broker on coverage confirmations, endorsements, renewals and project-specific insurance requirements.
  • Support OCIP/CCIP, Builders Risk and other project-specific insurance programs, as applicable.
  • Maintain accurate insurance records and compliance reports for active projects.
  • Partner with Contracts, Legal, Procurement and Project Management to ensure insurance compliance before contract execution and commencement of work.
