Louisiana Bridge Builders (“LBB”) is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.

Position Purpose/Summary

The Risk Management Manager oversees the company’s insurance and risk management program for the project, supporting operational safety and compliance.

Location

This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

1. Conduct risk assessments by analyzing documentation, statistics, reports, and market trends.
2. Manage and monitor workers' compensation and general liability related to the Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) and Wrap-Up Insurance.
3. Manage insurer relationships, investigate, and resolve claims.
4. Develop and implement claims, insurance, and risk policies and programs to optimize outcomes.
5. Implement risk management solutions including safety policies and recovery measures.
6. Manage risk exposures, insurance submissions, and reviews.
7. Oversee disputes and claims, including attending trials, mediations, and arbitrations.
8. Ensure timely reporting of claims to insurance carriers and prepare claim documentation.
9. Analyze loss data, recommend reserves, and report to senior leadership.
10. Prepare periodic reports such as loss or benchmark reports.
11. Manage legal strategies and documentation for litigation and mediation.
12. Hire, motivate, and lead a high-performing risk management team.
13. Supervise team activities, including training, performance reviews, and staffing decisions.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in business, risk management, finance, or related field, with 10+ years of risk management experience, including expertise in auto, general liability, workers' compensation, OCIP/Wrap-Up Insurance, and knowledge of insurance regulations. Alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent with 14+ years of relevant experience is acceptable.
