Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Nuclear Engineer to support the Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) department in advancing risk-informed initiatives across the nuclear fleet. You will work with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to develop and deploy risk-informed decision-making tools that enhance safety and optimize operations.

Candidates must perform engineering work with limited supervision, applying established principles and contributing technical analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.
• 1 year of nuclear power plant experience.
• Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S.

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of strategic risk-informed applications and initiatives across the nuclear fleet, including Risk Informed Completion Times, Surveillance Frequency Control Program, 10 CFR 50.69 categorizations, and development of Alternative Treatments.
• Provide engineering and technical support for identification, analysis, and resolution of problems under the guidance of experienced engineers, with consideration of system and fleet-wide impacts.
• Apply technical rigor, operating experience, and established methods to support risk-informed solutions that optimize safety, support regulatory compliance, and enhance operational decision-making.
• Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor assigned work activities.
• Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities
• Maintains accurate and detailed records and files
• Collaborate with and seek guidance from more experienced engineers while sharing knowledge with peers as appropriate.
