Job Summary

The Risk Claims Manager oversees insurance claims for auto liability and workers compensation, including property damage, auto vehicle damage, and verifiable damage. They ensure sound claim settlements, legal reviews, and investigations in accordance with company policies and procedures, manage workers compensation claims, return-to-work documentation, modified duty job offers, and resolve escalated operational issues. The role may be remote.

Essential Job Duties

• Investigate and maintain claims for the company, review and determine coverages, and work with insurance companies to set claim reserves.
• Identify claims that require escalation to the insurance company, gather relevant information at intake to facilitate claim resolution.
• Manage property, auto damage, and workers compensation claims, handle serious losses, retain and direct defense counsel, and attend mediations and depositions as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service to insureds/claimants via phone.
• Prepare statistical reports of claims activity and submit findings as requested, leading claim file reviews when required.
• Ensure the company takes appropriate measures to minimize claim losses and comply with government regulations.
• Create a positive and productive work atmosphere by communicating and behaving professionally with all employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Seven (7) or more years of senior-level claims experience.
• Extensive knowledge of liability claims administration, including litigation avoidance.
• In-depth understanding of complex medical treatments, outcomes, tort, venue, jurisdictional matters, and advanced investigative and analytical skills.
• Proven independent decision-making, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel; personal computer and spreadsheet skills preferred.
• Knowledge of statistical process control desirable.
