Berkshire Hathaway GUARD is hiring a RISC Assistant to provide administrative and operational support to the Residual Market Underwriting team in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The role offers a hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two remote days, helping you gain exposure to commercial insurance operations early in your career.

You will learn underwriting processes, research and regulatory requirements while delivering reliable service to agents, policyholders and internal partners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; on‑the‑job training provided.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office apps and learning new systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and operational support to underwriting team.
• Prepare and submit forms, reports, and documentation for state bureaus.
• Assist with policy reviews and underwriting research.
• Manage requests related to loss prevention activities and follow-ups.
• Draft and distribute correspondence to agents, policyholders, regulators, and internal partners.
• Conduct online research to support underwriting decisions.
• Maintain organized electronic records and documentation.
• Monitor work queues and manage multiple assignments to meet deadlines.
• Provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
• Collaborate with teammates to achieve departmental goals.
• Learn insurance processes, systems, and compliance on the job.
