Responsibilities

  • Obtains rights-of-way for the construction of new County roads and other capital improvements.
  • Researches property ownership of parcels of land associated with roads, bridges, and drainage construction projects.
  • Researches legal records to establish boundaries of properties.
  • Prepares temporary and permanent easement documents for signatures and recording.
  • Locates and contacts property owners for execution of documents; negotiates terms for signatures.
  • Maintains and manages right-of-way records and database.
  • Retrieves and reports right-of-way information as requested.
  • Assists in coordinating assigned activities and functions with those of other County departments, engineers, developers, contractors, property owners, and outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests for assistance regarding areas of responsibility.
  • Performs general administrative / clerical work as required, including copying and filing documents, entering and retrieving data, preparing spreadsheets, answering the telephone, etc.
  • Receives new subdivision deeds and easements, obtains administrative approval, records same, and distributes copies.
