Job summary

LEAD Staffing in Hampton Roads is seeking a Naval Shipyard Rigging Specialist with at least 3 years of rigging experience. You will plan and carry out lifts for heavy machinery, install pumps and gear, read lift plans, and coordinate with crane operators to move loads safely.

The role requires knowledge of rigging gear, load calculations, and safe lifting practices; you will perform pre-use inspections, document work, and comply with OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of rigging experience in shipyard, marine, industrial, or heavy construction.
• Ability to read lift plans, rigging drawings, and technical documentation.
• NCCCO Rigger certification (or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out lifts for heavy machinery, equipment, and shipboard structures.
• Select, inspect, and use rigging gear such as chain falls, come-alongs, wire rope, slings, shackles.
• Interpret lift plans and operate around cranes and forklifts.
• Compute load weights, CG, sling angles, and configurations.
• Coordinate with crane operators and other trades; maintain a safe work area.
