Description

This role requires the ability to join metal parts, such as pipes or metal plates, as specified by layout, blueprints, work orders, welding procedures, or oral instructions, through the application of heat or electric arc-welding equipment. Other duties may be assigned. MUST HAVE YOUR OWN RIG.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Use spot welding gun or hand, electric, or gas welding equipment to weld or tack weld pieces together.
• Unite pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas, and operate valves to release the mixture.
• Burn torch to reach expected temperature, size, and color of flame, adjusting flow of gas and air accordingly.
• Preheat workpieces for welding or shaping using a torch.
• Fill holes or correct mistakes in lead pieces and make bulges thin and curves in metal workpieces.
• Check the integrity of workpieces and measure to ensure they meet specifications.
• Climb ladders or scaffolds to access work areas.
• Signal crane operators to lift large workpieces.
• Use thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torches or plasma-arc equipment to dismount metal assemblies or cut scrap metal.
• Utilize hoists, cranes, wire and banding machines, or hand tools to position and secure workpieces.
• Select appropriate welding locations based on type, thickness, area, and temperature of metal.
• Instruct and manipulate flame or electrodes to straighten, curve, dissolve, or develop metal.
• Join pieces, cover taut points, and add metal as needed to develop parts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience: 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
