Job summary

Patterson-UTI seeks a Pad Crew 2 to support assembly, installation, rig-up and rig-down of fabrication units on designated drilling pads. You will work hands-on, gain knowledge of rig components, tools, and safety procedures, and assist with material prep and training junior crew members.

You will collaborate with Pad Foremen and management to follow priorities, maintain equipment, and uphold a safety-driven culture across varying weather conditions and site activities.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of Rig-Up Yard operational processes.
• General mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions related to rig-up and rig-down processes.
• Demonstrated clear communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English and promptly follow verbal and written directions.
• Ability to take direction and provide feedback regarding shared work duties.
• Ability to ask questions and seek clarification regarding job duties and assignments.
• Ability to work efficiently while handling multiple tasks and following through on assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with crew members, third parties, and management in a safe, organized, and productive manner.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including climbing at heights.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, including 50-100 pounds as required.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl as needed.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to maintain situational awareness and spatial orientation in an active work environment.
• Ability to remain alert and focused during extended work periods.
• Maintain required certifications, including Hot Weather Safety, Confined Space, Forklift, Man Lift, and Fire Extinguisher Safety.
• Successfully complete established training courses.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the assembly, installation, rig-up, and rig-down of rig components and fabrication units.
• Operate air-powered and hand tools, including ratchets, wrenches, pushing sticks, tag lines, driving pins, sledgehammers, and other tools as required.
• Inspect incoming and outgoing materials and fabricated units to verify accuracy and identify potential issues.
• Sort, stack, organize, and maintain materials and inventory required for the new-build process.
• Assist with maintaining jobsite cleanliness and organization, including safety houses and conexes.
• Assist with keeping tools and equipment clean, organized, and in functional condition.
• Assist with tracking tools assigned to the Pad Foreman.
• Learn and apply company policies, guidelines, methods, and standards established to support a quality-driven and incident-free culture.
• Train and assist new Rig-Up Yard crew members on established processes, procedures, and general use of equipment and tools as directed.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of rig components, including engines, drawworks, mud pumps, top drives, and other major rig systems.
• Perform assigned tasks efficiently while handling multiple responsibilities during the rig-up and rig-down process.
• All other duties as assigned.
