Job summary

Johnson & Johnson's Associate Medical Director—Rheumatology is responsible for medical oversight of late-stage rheumatology clinical development. Working with experienced clinical leaders, you will guide study conduct, data interpretation, and regulatory deliverables, ensuring robust trial quality.

You will design and review protocols, investigator brochures, and statistical inputs; collaborate with investigators and external partners; and translate emerging evidence into development

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent medical degree required.
• Clinical expertise in rheumatology required; board certification preferred.
• Experience in clinical research in pharma/biotech or academia preferred; industry experience desirable.
• Experience with interventional trials: protocol development, monitoring, data review, reporting.
• Experience with deep depletion approaches or CAR-T therapy desirable.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, execution, analysis, and reporting of Phase 2/3 rheumatology trials.
• Provide medical oversight for assigned studies including safety review and eligibility guidance.
• Participate in cross-functional study teams to drive timely decisions and milestones.
• Develop and review clinical documents: study concepts, protocols, investigator brochures, analysis inputs, study reports, publications.
• Contribute medical content to regulatory submissions and health authority responses.
• Interpret emerging evidence and translate into clear development recommendations.
• Build relationships with investigators, external experts, patient orgs, and partners.
• Evaluate new mechanisms and external opportunities relevant to rheumatology.
