Job summary

Orthopedic Physicians Alaska in Anchorage is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the CARE TEAM on a full-time basis. You will room patients, take vital signs, document visits in our electronic health record system, and support the clinic's daily operations to ensure high-quality patient care.

Working Monday to Friday 7:45am–4:30pm, you’ll collaborate with providers and staff, maintain stocked exam rooms, ensure HIPAA compliance, and help schedule patients while delivering a professional,

Qualifications

• One year of clinical experience working as a medical assistant OR completion of externship in a medical office.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certified medical assistant through the AAMA or registered medical assistant through the AMT.
• Licensed practical nurse certification plus two years of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, take vital signs, and document patient visits in electronic health record system.
• Ensure exam rooms are appropriately stocked, cleaned, and maintained for patient visits.
• Comply with HIPAA, confidentiality, and state laws.
• Answer patient calls and follow up with patients.
• Assist with patient scheduling as needed.
• Effectively communicate with patients, providers, and staff.
• Maintain a professional presence.
• Report concerns to appropriate staff members.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Your Role at OPA:

As a Medical Assistant on the CARE TEAM at OPA you will contribute to outstanding patient experience by working with other providers and staff to ensure patients are receiving appropriate care. You will also perform administrative tasks, environmental tasks, and organizational tasks to ensure the clinic is operating effectively.

What You’ll Do:

• Adhere to the scope of practice of a MA
• Room patients, take vital signs, and document patient visits in electronic health record system
• Ensure exam rooms are appropriately stocked, cleaned, and maintained for patient visits
• Comply with HIPAA, confidentiality, and state laws
• Answer patient calls and follow up with patients
• Assist with patient scheduling as needed
• Effectively communicate with patients, providers, and staff
• Maintain a professional presence
• Report concerns to appropriate staff members
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required qualifications:

• Licensed practical nurse certification PLUS two years of clinical experience
