Job summary

OrthoAlaska LLC in Wasilla, AK is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the CARE TEAM at OPA. You will support patient care and perform essential administrative and environmental tasks to keep the clinic running smoothly.

You will work with providers and staff to enhance the patient experience, adhere to scope of practice for a MA, and maintain HIPAA and confidentiality standards. A strong team environment and ongoing professional growth are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of clinical MA experience or externship preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
• Licensed Practical Nurse with two years of clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the scope of practice of a MA.
• Room patients, take vital signs, and document visits in the electronic health record.
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
• Comply with HIPAA and state laws.
• Answer patient calls and follow up.
• Assist with patient scheduling as needed.
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff.
• Maintain a professional presence and report concerns as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Your Role at OPA:

As a Medical Assistant on the CARE TEAM at OPA you will contribute to outstanding patient experience by working with other providers and staff to ensure patients are receiving appropriate care. You will also perform administrative tasks, environmental tasks, and organizational tasks to ensure the clinic is operating effectively.

What You'll Do:

• Adhere to the scope of practice of a MA


• Room patients, take vital signs, and document patient visits in electronic health record system


• Ensure exam rooms are appropriately stocked, cleaned, and maintained for patient visits


• Comply with HIPAA, confidentiality, and state laws


• Answer patient calls and follow up with patients


• Assist with patient scheduling as needed


• Effectively communicate with patients, providers, and staff


• Maintain a professional presence


• Report concerns to appropriate staff members


• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred qualifications:

• One year of clinical experience working as a medical assistant OR completion of externship in a medical office


• Certified medical assistant through the AAMA OR registered medical assistant through the AMT OR


• Licensed practical nurse certification PLUS two years of clinical experience
