Job summary

Orthopedic Physicians Alaska (OPA) in Wasilla seeks a Medical Assistant to join the CARE TEAM. You will contribute to excellent patient experience by supporting providers and staff, conducting administrative tasks, and helping maintain an organized clinic environment.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, recording vital signs, and ensuring rooms are clean and stocked. A high school diploma is required; MA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electronic health record systems and HIPAA/privacy rules.
• Ability to operate computer software and manage patient information.
• Experience with medical terminology and clinical workflows.
• Clinical MA experience or externship in a medical office preferred.
• Certified MA/AMT/LPN credentials preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, take vital signs, and document visits in the EHR.
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and ready for visits.
• Assist with scheduling and follow-up communications.

Non-Certified - $20.00-$30.50 per hour (DOE)

Certified - $21.00-$31.50 per hour (DOE)

You will receive a $750 SIGNING BONUS after 90 days of full-time employment

Your Role at OPA:

As a Medical Assistant on the CARE TEAM at OPA you will contribute to outstanding patient experience by working with other providers and staff to ensure patients are receiving appropriate care. You will also perform administrative tasks, environmental tasks, and organizational tasks to ensure the clinic is operating effectively.

What You’ll Do:

• Adhere to the scope of practice of a MA
• Room patients, take vital signs, and document patient visits in electronic health record system
• Ensure exam rooms are appropriately stocked, cleaned, and maintained for patient visits
• Comply with HIPAA, confidentiality, and state laws
• Answer patient calls and follow up with patients
• Assist with patient scheduling as needed
• Effectively communicate with patients, providers, and staff
• Maintain a professional presence
• Report concerns to appropriate staff members
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred qualifications:

• One year of clinical experience working as a medical assistant OR completion of externship in a medical office
• Certified medical assistant through the AAMA OR registered medical assistant through the AMT OR
• Licensed practical nurse certification PLUS two years of clinical experience
