Job summary

Orthopedic Physicians Alaska (OPA) is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the CARE TEAM at Lake Otis in Anchorage. This full-time position offers a signing bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. You will support clinical and administrative tasks to ensure excellent patient care and smooth clinic operation.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and relevant MA experience, with familiarity in EHR systems and HIPAA compliance. Monday–Friday schedule with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of clinical experience or externship preferred.
• CMA/ RMA or LPN with experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, take vital signs, and document visits in the EHR.
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and maintained for patient visits.
• Comply with HIPAA and state confidentiality laws.
• Answer patient calls and assist with scheduling.
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff.
• Perform administrative and environmental tasks to keep the clinic running smoothly.

Non-Certified - $20.00–$30.50 per hour (DOE)

Certified - $21.00–$31.50 per hour (DOE)

Schedule: Monday through Friday

You will receive a $750 SIGNING BONUS after 90 days of full-time employment

Your Role at OPA:

As a Medical Assistant on the CARE TEAM at OPA you will contribute to outstanding patient experience by working with other providers and staff to ensure patients are receiving appropriate care. You will also perform administrative tasks, environmental tasks, and organizational tasks to ensure the clinic is operating effectively.

What You’ll Do:

• Adhere to the scope of practice of a MA
• Room patients, take vital signs, and document patient visits in electronic health record system
• Ensure exam rooms are appropriately stocked, cleaned, and maintained for patient visits
• Comply with HIPAA, confidentiality, and state laws
• Answer patient calls and follow up with patients
• Assist with patient scheduling as needed
• Effectively communicate with patients, providers, and staff
• Maintain a professional presence
• Report concerns to appropriate staff members
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Certified medical assistant through the AAMA OR registered medical assistant through the AMT OR
• Licensed practical nurse certification PLUS two years of clinical experience
