Job summary

Avel eCare, based in Sioux Falls, SD, seeks a Rheumatologist to join our Specialty Clinic as a PRN / 1099 Independent Contractor. This remote role offers flexible scheduling with 16 hours per week and telemedicine-based patient care from home.

You will diagnose and manage rheumatic diseases, prescribe DMARDs/biologics, educate patients, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. A valid US license and DEA certification are required.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required.
• Minimum 1 year of Rheumatology practice.
• Telemedicine experience preferred but not required.
• Active DEA certification and Board Certification/Board Eligible in Rheumatology.
• At least one unrestricted state license (any state in the U.S.). Colorado license preferred.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY

Avel eCare is seeking a Rheumatologist to join our Specialty Clinic team as a PRN / 1099 Independent Contractor. This remote opportunity offers flexible scheduling while helping improve access to specialized rheumatology care for underserved populations. Through Avel eCare’s established telehealth network, you’ll provide virtual consultations to patients, delivering convenient, high-quality care from the comfort of your own home while making a meaningful difference in their lives.

General Hours of Work: 16 hours per week

Reports To: Avel eCare Medical Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Conduct remote consultations with patients to assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for rheumatic and autoimmune diseases.
• Offer personalized care and evidence-based treatment options for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus, spondyloarthropathies, and others.
• Prescribe appropriate medications, including disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), biologics, and other treatments.
• Provide patient education on managing chronic conditions and improving quality of life.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records through our electronic health record system.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including primary care providers and physical therapists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Stay up to date with the latest developments and best practices in rheumatology and telemedicine.

MD or DO degreerequired. A minimum of 1 year practice experience in Rheumatology. Telemedicine experience preferred but not required.

Active DEA certificationandBoard Certification/Board Eligible in Rheumatology. At leastone unrestricted state license(any state in the U.S.). Colorado license is preferred.
