Overview
A premier regional healthcare facility is seeking a full-time, Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) Rheumatologist to join its established regional network. Operating out of a main logistical hub in Mattoon, Illinois, this role offers a highly collaborative and customizable practice design, supported by an established mid-level provider team, allowing the right physician to maximize clinical throughput while maintaining strong work-life balance.
What you'll do
- Provide comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative rheumatologic care for a full spectrum of autoimmune and musculoskeletal diseases
- Coordinate patient care and rotation across an established regional network
- Collaborate within a team-based care model, partnering alongside the department's existing physician and two experienced Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
- Customize a clinical schedule, choosing from a traditional Monday–Friday (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) setup or an accessible 4-day condensed work week
- Manage minor clinical call responsibilities, restricted primarily to reviewing critical patient lab values as needed (no arduous, traditional hospital call burdens)
- Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely electronic medical records for all clinical encounters and specialized infusions
Required qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
- Successful completion of an accredited Internal Medicine Residency followed by a Rheumatology Fellowship
- Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Rheumatology
- Active, unrestricted Illinois state medical license (or immediate eligibility to obtain)
- Valid DEA registration
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to mid-level provider supervision and team medicine
Compensation and benefits
- $350,000 per year base compensation
- Immediate upside earning potential through production bonuses paid on all RVU output exceeding the base guarantee
- Eligible for an annual quality incentive up to 10% of your base salary (capped at $50,000) upon meeting baseline metrics once your practice is fully established
