ROLE TITLE: RFP TRAINING LEAD

ROLE SUMMARY

The RFP Training Lead within the U.S. Employer Project Management Team plays a crucial role in fostering growth and enhancing knowledge across all RFP-focused roles. This individual should have experience in sales processes, preferably in RFP, and possess a deep understanding of Cigna’s business, buyer groups, and products. The role involves educating and mentoring both new hires and experienced RFP staff.

Key responsibilities include developing and delivering comprehensive RFP training materials related to Cigna’s products, departmental processes, tools, and strategies. The RFP Training Lead ensures continuous staff learning by creating and delivering training on new programs and processes, addressing knowledge gaps.

EDUCATING AND MENTORING RFP STAFF

  • Develop and deliver training materials for new hires and existing staff within US Commercial RFP Strategy & Operations.
  • Stay current with Cigna products and services, collaborating with other functions to update training materials, ensuring they reflect current offerings and improvements based on feedback. Tailor training curricula to meet the needs of each class for engagement and comprehension.
  • Provide coaching and manage the performance of new hires during training to ensure learning goals are met, communicating feedback to management, including individual and aggregate learning status and additional training needs.
  • Mentor new hires through live case work, providing feedback to help them achieve milestones. Review case work before release to ensure accuracy and adherence to SOPs.
  • Use trend results to suggest continuous improvement opportunities through coaching and mentoring.
  • Guide the growth of experienced RFP staff’s critical thinking, writing, and proposal management skills when handling complex proposals.

LEADING IMPROVEMENTS & DRIVING POSITIVE CHANGE

  • Provide input to improve training programs to maximize their value and results.
  • Maintain product knowledge to ensure training content includes updates on product enhancements and process improvements. Collaborate with other functions to address training gaps or trends.
  • Support and educate front-line employees on workflows, processes, and tools for proposals and new products.
  • Stay informed about RFP trends and maintain proficiency in various RFP roles, including leading live RFP work.
  • Support training initiatives and improvement projects within the team.
  • Recommend solutions for process and training improvements, participating in testing, tracking, and implementation.
  • Maintain a customer-focused approach by treating proposals as selling documents and incorporating this into training materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

You may be a suitable candidate if you are:

  • Experienced in sales processes, especially RFPs, and skilled in project management.
  • Knowledgeable about Cigna’s business, products, services, processes, and tools.
  • Possess analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Have some experience in training design and delivery.
  • Capable of prioritizing and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resourceful and able to navigate the organization effectively.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal support.
  • Open to stepping out of your comfort zone and working on new areas.
  • A quick learner.
  • Willing to support improvement projects as needed.
  • Willing to travel approximately 10%.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

We anticipate offering an annual salary between $69,500 and $115,900, depending on experience and location. The role may also be eligible for an annual bonus.
