Skyworks Solutions, Inc. in Greensboro, NC is seeking an RFIC Design Engineering Intern to work on RF and analog circuit design projects within the Connect & Sensor group.

You will collaborate across engineering teams, perform simulations, and contribute to practical lab measurements while developing real-world skills. The internship emphasizes mentoring, skill-building assignments, and exposure to upper management, with opportunities for future full-time roles based on performance and business

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Minimum GPA not specified in text; focus on degree level requirements.
• RF/microwave, Analog, & Digital IC design coursework or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Produce and implement designs to meet RF/analog specs.
• Meet performance targets considering size, cost, footprint, power dissipation and schedule.
• Collaborate with technicians for circuit simulations and testing.
• Design and test RF circuits (PA, LNA, matching networks) and analog circuits.
• Work with lab equipment to compare simulations with real data.
• Perform transistor-level design, simulation, and layout; include RF/Analog/Digital measurements.
• Script automated/regression simulation environments (SKILL, Python, TCL, Bash).

RFIC Design Engineering Intern

Skyworks' Design Engineering Internships are offered in our Connect & Sensor business group. Specific projects and responsibilities will be determined based on the business needs at the time of the internship assignment.

Responsibilities

• Producing and implementing designs to meet customer specifications for RF and analog circuits
• Meeting performance requirements while also considering size, cost, footprint, power dissipation and schedule
• Partnering with technicians to perform circuit simulations and testing as needed
• Designing and testing RF circuits (PA, LNA, SW, Matching Networks), and analog circuits
• Potential to work with: Signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters to compare simulated data to real lab data
• Transistor level circuit design, simulation, and layout Analog/RF measurement and digital capture/pattern-generation
• Scripting automated/regression simulation environments (SKILL, python, TCL, bash)

Required Experience and Skills

• Currently pursuing a MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
• Minimum GPA of 3.5
• RF/microwave, Analog, & Digital integrated-circuit design course work and/or experience strongly preferred
• Exposure to RF measurement equipment such as, spectrum analyzers and network analyzers preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Software Exposure ADS, FEM, HFSS, Momentum, Synopsis, Mentor Calibre, Cadence Virtuoso/EMX/Xcelium, Dynamic Link, 3D CAD, Mechanical FEA Scripting Exposure: SKILL, python, TCL, bash
• Self-Starter with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Effective organization skills for systematic planning and scheduling
• Detail oriented to ensure design and delivery of high yielding products

Desired Experience and Skills

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $29.00 - $49.00 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $23.00 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
