Job summary

Skyworks is seeking an RF Design Engineering Intern in Hillsboro. This role focuses on designing RF blocks like power amplifiers, LNAs, and filters, with emphasis on performance, size, cost, and schedule. You will work with lab equipment and simulations to align real data with models.

The internship targets students in BS/MS/PhD programs with RF coursework, strong math, and coding skills. Pay is hourly, commensurate with education, and Skyworks offers mentoring and networking opportunities.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
• Completed analog/RF circuit design coursework.
• Software exposure to ADS, AWR, FEM, HFSS, Momentum, Cadence, Dynamic Link, Python (desired).
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Strong collaboration skills and self-starting attitude.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; well organized and detail oriented.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design of multiple functional blocks including Power amplifier, LNA, switch or acoustic filters, and RF Modules
• Meet performance requirements while also considering size, cost, footprint, and schedule
• Produce designs with increasing complexity from customer demands for LTE, carrier aggregation, multiple antennas, filters, and power management
• Adapt to new customer requirements for ruggedness, ESD, and quality
• Work as a member of a team to contribute design schematics, simulations, and real lab data
• Work with signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters to compare simulated data to real lab data

Skyworks' Design Engineering Internships are offered in our Advanced Cellular business group. Specific projects and responsibilities will be determined based on the business needs at the time of the internship assignment.

Required Experience and Skills

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering
• Student must have completed some analog/RF circuit design course work
• Software Exposure: ADS, AWR, FEM, HFSS, Momentum, Cadence, Dynamic Link, Python (desired)
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Strong collaboration skills
• Self-Starter with good communication skills
• Effective organization skills for systematic planning and scheduling
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical information
• Detail oriented to ensure design and delivery of high yielding products
• Be able to enjoy working in fast paced work environment

Desired Experience and Skills

• Exposure to RF measurement equipment such as, spectrum analyzers and network analyzers preferred

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $29.00 - $49.00 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $23.00 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
