Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. invites motivated engineering students to join its RFIC Design Engineering Internships within the High Performance Analog group.

The program offers real work experience, exposure to upper management, and the potential for full-time opportunities as available. Interns will contribute to RF block design (mmW LNAs, PAs, VCOs, mixers, phase shifters) and learn modeling, testing, and optimization in collaboration with a skilled team.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on RF/mmW IC design.
• Minimum GPA of 3.3.
• RF/mmW circuit design coursework and/or experience.
• Exposure to RF measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers and network analyzers preferred.
• Software exposure: ADS, Cadence, HFSS, EMX.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design of mmW LNAs, PAs, VCOs, mixers, phase shifters, attenuators, and switches, plus supporting analog and interface circuitry in CMOS, BiCMOS, and RFSOI.
• Active device and electromagnetic modeling for high-frequency designs.
• Meet performance targets while considering size, cost, footprint, power, and schedule.
• Collaborate on design schematics, simulations, and lab data.
• Work with signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters to compare simulations with real data.

Skyworks' RFIC Design Engineering Internshipsare offered in our High Performance Analog business group. Specific projects and responsibilities will be determined based on the business needs at the time of the internship assignment.

Responsibilities

• Contributingto the design of multiple functional blocks including millimeter-wave (mmW) LNAs, PAs, VCOs, mixers, Phase Shifters, Attenuators, Switches, Supporting Analog and Interface circuitry in state of the art CMOS, BiCMOS, and RFSOI technologies
• Activedevice and electromagnetic modeling for high-frequency designs
• Meeting performance requirements while also considering size, cost, footprint, power dissipation and schedule
• Working as a member of a team to contribute design schematics, simulations, and real lab data
• Working with signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters to compare simulated data to real lab data

Required Experience and Skills

• Currently pursuing a MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering with focus on RF/mmW IC design
• Minimum GPA of 3.3
• RF/mmW circuit design coursework and/or experience
• Exposure to RF measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers and network analyzers preferred
• Software exposure: ADS, Cadence, HFSS, EMX
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Self-Starter with good communication skills
• Effective organization skills for systematic planning and scheduling
• Strong writtenand verbal communication skillsto conveycomplex technical information
• Detail oriented to ensure design and delivery of high yielding products
• Ability to enjoy working in fast paced work environment

Desired Experience and Skills

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $29.00 - $49.00 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $23.00 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
