Job summary

Muon Space is seeking an RF Test Engineer to lead HITL testbed infrastructure and EGSE development. You’ll stay hands-on with hardware bring-up, collaborating with electrical missions engineers to mirror flight hardware in testbeds used across Muon Space deployments.

The role requires 5x onsite presence in San Jose and cross-functional teamwork within a fast-paced space-focused environment. A strong EE/embedded background and Linux comfort are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with complex electromechanical systems, incl. 2+ years in test infrastructure development.
• Background in electrical, embedded software, mechanical, or industrial controls.
• Experience designing hardware that others build and use.
• Experience using RF testing equipment.
• Ability to read schematics, block diagrams, and production drawings.
• Strong debugging skills across hardware and software interfaces.
• Scripting or programming ability (Python, Bash, or similar).
• Understanding of electronics fundamentals and common interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet).
• Excellent communication and teamwork in fast-paced environments.
• B.S. in engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Comfort in a Linux development environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of future HITL testbed infrastructure: architecture, form factor, non-satellite hardware, interfaces.
• Lead the design of next-generation EGSE for power, command, and monitoring during integration and test.
• Define each testbed's parallel to mission hardware from diagrams to testbed designs.
• Build, integrate, and bring up testbed hardware with the team for daily operation.
• Generate and maintain testbed diagrams, interface definitions, and design docs.
• Debug hardware and interface issues across testbeds with cross-discipline engineers.
• Coordinate with supply chain, production, and facilities on inventory and builds.
• Guide junior engineers and drive scalable testbed designs.
